In this full-day school holiday class, you will make and fill your own sausages—whether you choose a classic English banger or create your own designer sausage.

You will then make toad in the hole for lunch, served with Kate’s onion gravy. Your remaining sausages will be chilled for you to take home and cook.

After lunch, we will start by making a mini chocolate salami to take home and share. You will then make and flavour your own mash (we have some great creative ideas, but we’re also happy to work with yours!). Kate will also talk you through making her perfect onion gravy (yes, you can strain the onions out if you prefer)—and that’s your evening meal sorted: sausage, mash, and gravy!

We will also have some seasonal vegetables for you to turn into side dishes.

Like all of our sessions, this class can be tailored to suit any dietary requirements, including gluten-free, and vegetarian options. Please contact us beforehand to discuss your needs.

Saddleworth Cookery School

These classes will have your teenager creating complex dishes from the very first session.  They will learn how to follow a basic recipe and how to make a variety of savoury and sweet dishes.  We encourage teenagers to try new foods and to consider nutrition when choosing dishes. 
These sessions can also be used to build  and record skills for the Duke of Edingburgh Award.
The class starts at 4.30pm but children arriving by public transport/school bus are more than welcome to arrive early - we even a dedicated area to do homework before the class starts.

Recipes can be adapted to meet any dietary requirements and children with additional needs are also welcome on the classes - please contact us to discuss this at the time of booking.

Those attending these sessions also have the opportunity to complete a BTEC Level 2 Home Cooking Skills qualification.  To be entered your child will need to attend a minimum of 30 sessions and be aged 14 or above when entered.  There is an additional charge for the qualification, please contact us for further details.

Attended my 1st class at Saddleworth Cookery School on Monday 18th October. From walking onto the premises, I was made to feel welcome immediately. Wonderfully friendly staff, who have a method of teaching that is equally informative and relaxed. We made Paella and other side dishes which I had not previously attempted. A small group of people started the evening as strangers, but by the end of the session, we were talking and laughing like old friends. I will be booking again for the next session. We were bought this as an Xmas gift and came expecting it to be a demonstration. Unfortunately it was just ingredients that were popped on a desk with a hard to follow recipe. There was a big overhead camera but they didn’t use it. A lot of the food was already made for example the rice and chicken. When we walked in there was someone who showed us to the “coffee and tea section” to which we could help ourselves but then that was about it, we found our own table to work at, figured out what baskets were for which recipe and had to find our own feet as to what to do. 

We got to take home some nice food though ☺️

Given that only 3 people had booked the evening where pies were the chief theme, and only 2 had turned up, I was extremely grateful that the class went ahead as it obviously took time in preparation and planning as well as staff.
The class was really well taught and I learnt some helpful tips.
It was tricky to balance the two of us - I had done rather more cooking and had some of the techniques already, whereas the other participant was learning rather more.  this meant that I felt we went very slowly for our first dish and it left us short of time towards the end to complete something else which might have taught me more new skills
Over all I really enjoyed the evening and Pam teaches with great enthusiasm!

These fun, informative sessions for those educated at home are suitable for children of all abilities from 9 to 16years. We focus on the child, with an emphasis on working in a relaxed environment, building cookery skills and encouraging conversations about food and healthy eating.  Classes run every other week.  Book a 'one off' session or join us for a block of 6 sessions, for a full course to develop and hone those essential cooking skills. 
Older children, and those who have already completed 2 terms of cooking with us have the opportunity to complete a BTEC Level 2 qualification.  Those completing the full course will have 2 full assessment days to complete the required controlled assessments.  
It is expected that those following the BTEC course complete some planning and evaluation work.  We will work with students to find the best way for them to record and use this.

Discover the secrets behind rich, aromatic curries in this hands-on cookery class designed especially for adults. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to build confidence in the kitchen, this relaxed and interactive session will guide you through the essential techniques for creating delicious, authentic curries from scratch.

Led by an experienced chef, you’ll learn how to balance spices, build deep flavours, and master the foundations of curry cooking. From preparing fresh ingredients to perfecting your seasoning, every step is clearly explained so you can recreate the dishes at home with ease.
