Sausage Rolls and Swiss Roll

In this full day class you will make  light, flaky sausage rolls and a lovely decorative vanilla, lemon or chocolate Swiss roll.

\
You will start by making light rough puff  pastry which will be filled with your choice of savoury filling (sausage or cheese, or a mixture of both).\
\
Whilst your pastry is  chilling you will get creative and pipe a design for your decorative Swill Roll. 

After lunch (pizza, toasties or sandwich) we will make a light and airy Swiss roll,  which will be swirled to reveal your personalised design and left to cool.

Whilst the roll is cooling, you will season up your sausage (or ‘not sausage’) roll filling and get rolling, filling, glazing and baking.

With fresh cream whipped, seasonal fruits chopped (and some made into jam), caramel made and chocolate melted you will have the ingredients to fill your Swiss Roll.

Your food will then be boxed ready to take home, but we are certain a few will get sampled on the way.

Like all of our sessions, this class can be tailored to any dietary requirement, including gluten free and vegetarian, please contact us beforehand to discuss requirements.

All ingredients and take away containers are provided.

Getting to grips with the basics or improving your culinary skills, our Adult Cookery Club will introduce you to different dishes and improve your confidence in the kitchen. you will not only leave with plenty of hints and tips, but also some great food to enjoy at home. Book individual sessions, or make the most of our 'discount block', when booking over 5 sessions.

Attended my 1st class at Saddleworth Cookery School on Monday 18th October. From walking onto the premises, I was made to feel welcome immediately. Wonderfully friendly staff, who have a method of teaching that is equally informative and relaxed. We made Paella and other side dishes which I had not previously attempted. A small group of people started the evening as strangers, but by the end of the session, we were talking and laughing like old friends. I will be booking again for the next session. We were bought this as an Xmas gift and came expecting it to be a demonstration. Unfortunately it was just ingredients that were popped on a desk with a hard to follow recipe. There was a big overhead camera but they didn’t use it. A lot of the food was already made for example the rice and chicken. When we walked in there was someone who showed us to the “coffee and tea section” to which we could help ourselves but then that was about it, we found our own table to work at, figured out what baskets were for which recipe and had to find our own feet as to what to do. 

We got to take home some nice food though ☺️

Given that only 3 people had booked the evening where pies were the chief theme, and only 2 had turned up, I was extremely grateful that the class went ahead as it obviously took time in preparation and planning as well as staff.
The class was really well taught and I learnt some helpful tips.
It was tricky to balance the two of us - I had done rather more cooking and had some of the techniques already, whereas the other participant was learning rather more.  this meant that I felt we went very slowly for our first dish and it left us short of time towards the end to complete something else which might have taught me more new skills
Over all I really enjoyed the evening and Pam teaches with great enthusiasm!

Getting to grips with the basics or improving your culinary skills, our Adult Cookery Club will introduce you to different dishes and improve your confidence 

These fun, informative sessions for those educated at home are suitable for children of all abilities from 9 to 16years. We focus on the child, with an emphasis on working in a relaxed environment, building cookery skills and encouraging conversations about food and healthy eating.  Classes run every other week.  Book a 'one off' session or join us for a block of 6 sessions, for a full course to develop and hone those essential cooking skills. 
Older children, and those who have already completed 2 terms of cooking with us have the opportunity to complete a BTEC Level 2 qualification.  Those completing the full course will have 2 full assessment days to complete the required controlled assessments.  
It is expected that those following the BTEC course complete some planning and evaluation work.  We will work with students to find the best way for them to record and use this.

Mastered a basic loaf and ready to take your breadmaking skills to the next level? Want to try new recipes and get creative with dough?

This class will deepen your understanding of the theory behind breadmaking and help you refine your technique. Once you’ve mastered a basic loaf, the possibilities are endless! You’ll learn how to adjust proving times — extending or shortening them — to get the very best from your dough. We’ll also explore how to make dough using a mixer to make our maltflake dough.

Already confident shaping loaves, muffins, and baguettes? Then you’ll love creating savoury and sweet knotted buns, a centrepiece bread, delicious fruit teacakes (or mini-loaf) and a maltflake loaf. We’ll also have some of our dough ready for you to really get to grips with shaping and to make a Turkish style Pied ‘slipper bread’.

As this is a longer session, we’ll break for lunch with homemade soup with your hand shaped rolls, twists, cobs and mini loaves — and if time allows, we might even show you how to make mini doughnuts and iced fingers to eat for dessert!

Join us to create a selection of our most popular classic tapas dishes.\
During this session you will make a minimum of five tapas dishes, including Paella, Croquetas, Tortilla and Patatas Bravas. You will then choose one additional seafood, fish, meat or vegetable dish (options include: Chorizo en Vino Tinto, Prawns Pil Pil, Albóndigas, empanda or Patatas al Infierno).

At the end of the class you can sit down for your own ‘Tapas Party’ or package them to take home and share.

We know that we have a number of aspiring chefs, who really would love to run a 'Food Truck' (and plenty who just enjoy eating Street Foods). We are really looking forward to running this class, with some great new recipes.

**🥞 Children’s Pancake Cookery Class – A Day of Flipping Fun! 🍓**\
*Pancakes, creativity, and delicious discoveries await!*

Starting the day with fluffy **American buttermilk pancakes** for breakfast, young chefs will embark on a tasty adventure exploring the wonderful world of pancakes in every shape and size. Throughout the day, we’ll whisk, flip, fill, and decorate — making both **sweet and savoury creations** to enjoy and take home.

Some pancakes will be **topped**, some **stacked**, and others **stuffed and baked**. We’ll discover that pancakes are far more than just lemon and sugar — though, of course, we’ll enjoy a few of those too!

Each child will bring home a **savoury stuffed pancake bake** and a **sweet pancake stack** to assemble at home for dessert, perfect for sharing their new skills with the family.

As with all our **school holiday cookery classes**, everything is included:\

A full day making pancakes, what could be more fun?!

These classes will have your teenager creating complex dishes from the very first session.  They will learn how to follow a basic recipe and how to make a variety of savoury and sweet dishes.  We encourage teenagers to try new foods and to consider nutrition when choosing dishes. 
These sessions can also be used to build  and record skills for the Duke of Edingburgh Award.
The class starts at 4.30pm but children arriving by public transport/school bus are more than welcome to arrive early - we even a dedicated area to do homework before the class starts.

Recipes can be adapted to meet any dietary requirements and children with additional needs are also welcome on the classes - please contact us to discuss this at the time of booking.

Those attending these sessions also have the opportunity to complete a BTEC Level 2 Home Cooking Skills qualification.  To be entered your child will need to attend a minimum of 30 sessions and be aged 14 or above when entered.  There is an additional charge for the qualification, please contact us for further details.
