Saddleworth Cookery School

We love getting the pasta machines out and it's even more fun when we add a bit of colour (but you can keep it plain if you prefer).

In this full day class we will get creative with our tagliatelle and linguini. Lunch will be home made pasta with a simple sauce of your choice and we might also make some pizza.

After lunch you will be making meatballs to serve with your pasta. Now we would go for a mixture of beef and pork mince in a rich tomato sauce, but we know some of our young people will want to spice things up or get creative with their sauces, which is great! We will also have our recipe for turkey or vegetarian meatballs and yes, if you want to add cheese inside or hide a bit of chilli in the centre, then that’s fine by us, we love a bit of creativity!

If we have time we can get the ravioli trays out to make some filled pasta or even make up a quick mac ‘n’ cheese.

It will definitely be a great 'hands on' day with plenty of leaning and fun, with emphasis on the fun!

Children can be left for the day or parents can stay and watch or join in the class. If children have additional needs (or are just feeling a little shy), we encourage parents (or older siblings) to work alongside them if needed.

Getting to grips with the basics or improving your culinary skills, our Adult Cookery Club will introduce you to different dishes and improve your confidence in the kitchen. you will not only leave with plenty of hints and tips, but also some great food to enjoy at home. Attended my 1st class at Saddleworth Cookery School on Monday 18th October. From walking onto the premises, I was made to feel welcome immediately. Wonderfully friendly staff, who have a method of teaching that is equally informative and relaxed. We made Paella and other side dishes which I had not previously attempted. A small group of people started the evening as strangers, but by the end of the session, we were talking and laughing like old friends. I will be booking again for the next session. Anyone keen to improve their cooking skills, please attend a class here - it’s brilliant 👍👍👍

Date night with a difference. This was a lovely way for my husband and I to spend a few hours together and pick up some new skills. We were bought this as an Xmas gift and came expecting it to be a demonstration. Unfortunately it was just ingredients that were popped on a desk with a hard to follow recipe. There was a big overhead camera but they didn’t use it. A lot of the food was already made for example the rice and chicken. When we walked in there was someone who showed us to the “coffee and tea section” to which we could help ourselves but then that was about it, we found our own table to work at, figured out what baskets were for which recipe and had to find our own feet as to what to do. 

We got to take home some nice food though ☺️

Do you have any dietary requirements/allergies?

We can't get through the half term holidays without a bit of treat making.

In this session you will have great fun recreating classic biscuits.\
We will be making Jammie Dodgers, Custard Creams, Bourbon or Party Rings. Make them traditional or get creative and 'mix them up'.

After making the biscuits you will have time to fill and decorate, going for a classic look or giving them your own 'finishing touches'.

As we can't just eat biscuits we will have a choice of sandwich or make your own pizza for lunch, with one or 2 of your own biscuits for dessert.

As with all our school holiday classes, all ingredients, snacks and drinks are provided. Lunch will be made during the session.

We even supply a box to help you safely transport your biscuits home.

All 3 of my children have been to at least one class. This time it was my youngest to attend the classic biscuits course! He had such fun and made some yummy biscuits which he has become fiercely protective of!!!
I sneaked in twenty minutes early at the end, unnoticed by my son, and it was so lovely to watch him busily getting on with the tasks. I think it’s been brilliant for him to grow in confidence and develop skills!!

In this half day class we will work together to make fresh strawberry ice cream and chocolate ice cream. You will then make your own cookie dough, adding flavours if you want, and bake them. You can decide if you want them chewy or crispy and it’s up to you if you have ice cream and cookies or ice cream in cookies - or a bit of each.

It will definitely be a great 'hands on' morning with plenty of leaning and fun, with emphasis on the fun!

All ingredients and take away containers are provided.

Children can be left for the day or parents can stay and watch or join in the class. If children have additional needs (or are just feeling a little shy), we encourage parents (or older siblings) to work alongside them if needed.

We have added an ‘Adult Cook Along’ ticket, where an adult can join in the fun and make their own cookies alongside their child.

If joining tis class on 29th July, you can join us for a full day and make Brownies or Blondies in the afternoon - Super Treat Day!!  Please book the full day for this option or, join us for the morning and ‘upgrade’ if you are not ready to leave.

Summer means ice cream and ice cream is great served with, or in-between biscuits, so why not have a cookies and ice cream class? And, just incase that’s not enough of a ‘Sweet Treat’, we you can also make a chocolate brownie or blondie.

We have been asked for a Summer Holiday Tapas class, so here it is!!

Children's Holiday Cooking Class - Trip to Spain

My Grandson has been to Saddleworth Cookery School several times and has really enjoyed it every time he’s gone!   He recently did a day of Spanish cooking and everyone enjoyed the food he brought home.   I buy him vouchers for his birthday or Christmas and he is always pleased to get them.

Children's Holiday Cooking Class - Tapas 

These fun, informative sessions for those educated at home are suitable for children of all abilities from 9 to 16years. We focus on the child, with an emphasis on working in a relaxed environment, building cookery skills and encouraging conversations about food and healthy eating.  Classes run every other week.  Book a 'one off' session or join us for a block of 6 sessions, for a full course to develop and hone those essential cooking skills. 
Older children, and those who have already completed 2 terms of cooking with us have the opportunity to complete a BTEC Level 2 qualification.  Those completing the full course will have 2 full assessment days to complete the required controlled assessments.  
It is expected that those following the BTEC course complete some planning and evaluation work.  We will work with students to find the best way for them to record and use this.

Fun, informative sessions for children who are educated at home.   With BTEC option for older students.

Love a Take Away? They are even more fun when you make them yourself!\
Join us for a full day learning how to make some of your favourite curry take away foods, getting all of the flavour and giving understanding how to get that authentic taste.

Starting by making fruity samosas to eat as a mid morning snack (you will also practice folding samosas for later).

We will then make up your chosen curry paste, which will be used for your own curry to take home.\
For lunch we will work in groups to make a biriani (there might even be some left to take home and share).

After lunch we will spend time making your own choice of curry, flat bread bread and sides to take home.  You can get creative with this, adding flavours to your flatbread, design your own bhaji or pakora and make a classic or your own personalised dip.

As with all our school holiday classes, all ingredients, snacks and drinks are provided. Lunch will be made during the session.
