Saddleworth Cookery School

We love getting the pasta machines out and it's even more fun when we add a bit of colour.

In this full day class we will get creative with our tagliatelle and also make some lasagne sheets.   Lunch will be home made pasta with a simple sauce of choice and we might also make some pizza.  
After lunch we will use the pasta sheets to make lasagne to take home and share.  You should also take home some of your home made tagliatelle . 
It will definitely be a great 'hands on' day with plenty of leaning and fun!

All ingredients and take away containers are provided.

Children can be left for the day or parents can stay and watch or join in the class.  If children have additional needs (or are just feeling a little shy), we encourage parents (or older siblings) to work alongside them if needed.

We know that we have a number of aspiring chefs, who really would love to run a 'Food Truck' (and plenty who just enjoy eating Street Foods).  We are really looking forward to running this class, with some great new recipes.

We also know that you will talk us into making some chips - and you will be able to make your own 'style' - think chunky chips; skinny fries;, salt and pepper chips; dirty fires - you give us the ideas and we will help you make them.

In this full day session your child will make traditional American themed recipes and one with our own Saddleworth Cookery School twist!

Whilst your chocolate cake is baking you will get to grips with tempering chocolate and making your own Easter egg shells and filled mini eggs to top your cake.
Home made buttercream (obviously made from Saddleworth Butter) will be used to fill and ice your cake and we will also show you how to create a 'drip' cake,, use 'nude icing' and piping skills.  You will then have time to decorate your cake with guidance from our staff.
A vanilla base cake can be made as an alternative, and we are able to make cakes gluten free, Please contact us to request this when booking.



Easter Egg Celebration Cake

Join us to create your own impressive Easter cake, decorated with your handmade chocolate eggs.

A full day of Easter fun. making a batch of hot cross buns and your own chocolate mini egg cookies.  .\
Depending on the time, we might also be able to make a few extra Easter cookies and a group batch of chocolate chip hot cross buns (for us to sample in the session).

As with all our full day classes, lunch will be made during the class and will be a choice of fun Easter themed pizza or sandwiches.

Attended my 1st class at Saddleworth Cookery School on Monday 18th October. From walking onto the premises, I was made to feel welcome immediately. Wonderfully friendly staff, who have a method of teaching that is equally informative and relaxed. We made Paella and other side dishes which I had not previously attempted. A small group of people started the evening as strangers, but by the end of the session, we were talking and laughing like old friends. I will be booking again for the next session. We were bought this as an Xmas gift and came expecting it to be a demonstration. Unfortunately it was just ingredients that were popped on a desk with a hard to follow recipe. There was a big overhead camera but they didn’t use it. A lot of the food was already made for example the rice and chicken. When we walked in there was someone who showed us to the “coffee and tea section” to which we could help ourselves but then that was about it, we found our own table to work at, figured out what baskets were for which recipe and had to find our own feet as to what to do. 

We got to take home some nice food though ☺️

These fun, informative sessions for those educated at home are suitable for children of all abilities from 9 to 16years. We focus on the child, with an emphasis on working in a relaxed environment, building cookery skills and encouraging conversations about food and healthy eating.  Classes run every other week.  Book a 'one off' session or join us for a block of 6 sessions, for a full course to develop and hone those essential cooking skills. 
Older children, and those who have already completed 2 terms of cooking with us have the opportunity to complete a BTEC Level 2 qualification.  Those completing the full course will have 2 full assessment days to complete the required controlled assessments.  
It is expected that those following the BTEC course complete some planning and evaluation work.  We will work with students to find the best way for them to record and use this.

As always the class was amazing. The meal was absolutely delicious. Isabella has learned some new cutting skills and now loves Sweet and Soul Chicken. Bonus for me is she wants to cook this again for family. We absolutely love this Homeschooling Class. 

Fun, informative sessions for children who are educated at home.   With BTEC option for older students.

These classes will have your teenager creating complex dishes from the very first session.  They will learn how to follow a basic recipe and how to make a variety of savoury and sweet dishes.  We encourage teenagers to try new foods and to consider nutrition when choosing dishes. 
These sessions can also be used to build  and record skills for the Duke of Edingburgh Award.
The class starts at 4.30pm but children arriving by public transport/school bus are more than welcome to arrive early - we even a dedicated area to do homework before the class starts.

Recipes can be adapted to meet any dietary requirements and children with additional needs are also welcome on the classes - please contact us to discuss this at the time of booking.

Those attending these sessions also have the opportunity to complete a BTEC Level 2 Home Cooking Skills qualification.  To be entered your child will need to attend a minimum of 30 sessions and be aged 14 or above when entered.  There is an additional charge for the qualification, please contact us for further details.
