Saddleworth Cookery School

One of the best parts of a holiday abroad is discovering and sampling local food and Spain has some amazing 

In this full day session you will make empanadillia (little Spanish pasties), our favourite chicken paella, Spanish tortilla and selection of tapas.  There should be plenty of lovely Spanish food to eat for lunch and enough to take home to share.  

All ingredients and take away containers are provided.

Children can be left for the day or parents can stay and watch or join in the class.  If children have additional needs (or are just feeling a little shy), we encourage parents (or older siblings) to work alongside them if needed.  

Due to the current situation, anyone sharing a workbench must be from the same household.  

We do understand that some children may struggle with the current rules in place and, if parents would prefer to stay and work with their child (or just sit at their workbench and chat to them whilst they are working) we are happy to accommodate that.

We will reinforce social distancing rules throughout each session and will contact parents if their child is struggling with this.
Dishes made in this class may be subject to change. 

Children's Holiday Cooking Class - Trip to Spain

My Grandson has been to Saddleworth Cookery School several times and has really enjoyed it every time he’s gone!   He recently did a day of Spanish cooking and everyone enjoyed the food he brought home.   I buy him vouchers for his birthday or Christmas and he is always pleased to get them.

Getting to grips with the basics or improving your culinary skills, our Adult Cookery Club will introduce you to different dishes and improve your confidence in the kitchen. you will not only leave with plenty of hints and tips, but also some great food to enjoy at home. Attended my 1st class at Saddleworth Cookery School on Monday 18th October. From walking onto the premises, I was made to feel welcome immediately. Wonderfully friendly staff, who have a method of teaching that is equally informative and relaxed. We made Paella and other side dishes which I had not previously attempted. A small group of people started the evening as strangers, but by the end of the session, we were talking and laughing like old friends. I will be booking again for the next session. Anyone keen to improve their cooking skills, please attend a class here - it’s brilliant 👍👍👍

Date night with a difference. This was a lovely way for my husband and I to spend a few hours together and pick up some new skills. A really nice relaxed class and Pam explained everything really well. Everything was provided and all of the produce was of the best quality. We were bought this as an Xmas gift and came expecting it to be a demonstration. Unfortunately it was just ingredients that were popped on a desk with a hard to follow recipe. There was a big overhead camera but they didn’t use it. A lot of the food was already made for example the rice and chicken. When we walked in there was someone who showed us to the “coffee and tea section” to which we could help ourselves but then that was about it, we found our own table to work at, figured out what baskets were for which recipe and had to find our own feet as to what to do. 

We got to take home some nice food though ☺️

What a fantastic evening.  Me & my husband learnt how to cook Thai red & green curries from scratch, chicken satay & spring rolls - and  delicious it all was too.. These fun, informative sessions for those educated at home are suitable for children of all abilities from 9 to 16years. We focus on the child, with an emphasis on working in a relaxed environment, building cookery skills and encouraging conversations about food and healthy eating.  Classes run every other week.  Book a 'one off' session or join us for a block of 6 sessions, for a full course to develop and hone those essential cooking skills. 
Older children, and those who have already completed 2 terms of cooking with us have the opportunity to complete a BTEC Level 2 qualification.  Those completing the full course will have 2 full assessment days to complete the required controlled assessments.  
It is expected that those following the BTEC course complete some planning and evaluation work.  We will work with students to find the best way for them to record and use this.

As always the class was amazing. The meal was absolutely delicious. Isabella has learned some new cutting skills and now loves Sweet and Soul Chicken. Bonus for me is she wants to cook this again for family. We absolutely love this Homeschooling Class. 

Fun, informative sessions for children who are educated at home.   With BTEC option for older students.

These classes will have your teenager creating complex dishes from the very first session.  They will learn how to follow a basic recipe and how to make a variety of savoury and sweet dishes.  We encourage teenagers to try new foods and to consider nutrition when choosing dishes. 
These sessions can also be used to build  and record skills for the Duke of Edingburgh Award.
The class starts at 4.30pm but children arriving by public transport/school bus are more than welcome to arrive early - we even a dedicated area to do homework before the class starts.

Recipes can be adapted to meet any dietary requirements and children with additional needs are also welcome on the classes - please contact us to discuss this at the time of booking.

Those attending these sessions also have the opportunity to complete a BTEC Level 2 Home Cooking Skills qualification.  To be entered your child will need to attend a minimum of 30 sessions and be aged 14 or above when entered.  There is an additional charge for the qualification, please contact us for further details.

Most classes involve approximately 2 hours cooking, with an additional hour to relax and enjoy your food, whilst we 'do the dishes'.  We can adjust this to meet your requirements and budget.
