### **Spooktacular Kids' Halloween Cookery Class! 🎃🍬**

Get ready for a frightfully fun day in the kitchen! Our **Children's Halloween Cookery Class** is a full-day, school holiday workshop packed with hands-on cooking, spooky surprises, and delicious Halloween treats.

Young chefs will create a variety of both **sweet and savoury Halloween-themed dishes**, including:

🍕 *Spooky Pizzas* or *Trembling Tacos*\
🧁 *Haunted Cupcakes*\
🍪 *Creepy Cookies*\
🍫 *Spooky Chocolates*

We might even squeeze in a few extra terrifyingly tasty treats if time allows!

Children will enjoy a tasty lunch made from their own creations, and anything not gobbled up on the spot will be packed up to take home and share. **All ingredients and takeaway containers are provided.**

This class is designed to be inclusive and flexible:

- Kids can be **dropped off for the day** or

- **Parents are welcome to stay**, watch, or even join in the spooky fun!

- If your child has additional needs (or just needs a little support), we encourage a parent, carer, or older sibling to cook alongside them.

Halloween Fun - full day school holiday class

Saddleworth Cookery School

These classes will have your teenager creating complex dishes from the very first session.  They will learn how to follow a basic recipe and how to make a variety of savoury and sweet dishes.  We encourage teenagers to try new foods and to consider nutrition when choosing dishes. 
These sessions can also be used to build  and record skills for the Duke of Edingburgh Award.
The class starts at 4.30pm but children arriving by public transport/school bus are more than welcome to arrive early - we even a dedicated area to do homework before the class starts.

Recipes can be adapted to meet any dietary requirements and children with additional needs are also welcome on the classes - please contact us to discuss this at the time of booking.

Those attending these sessions also have the opportunity to complete a BTEC Level 2 Home Cooking Skills qualification.  To be entered your child will need to attend a minimum of 30 sessions and be aged 14 or above when entered.  There is an additional charge for the qualification, please contact us for further details.

2 hours of cooking fun for children of all abilities from age 5-14. 

Are still trying to master a basic loaf and looking to improve your bread making skills. Or are you making a fantastic loaf and ready to move to the next stage, want to try new recipes or just get more creative with dough? In this class we will share our tips to extend your understanding of the theory of bread making, dough hydration, kneading techniques, introduce you to enriched doughs and look at different methods of proving and shaping.\
Once you have mastered your basic loaf the possibilities for bread making are endless. Learn how to extend and shorten proving, to get the best from your dough; work with fresh and quick action yeast; compare warm and cold prove dough, know how to shape dough to make loaves, muffins, baguettes and rolls, make an enriched dough (for a Chelsea/cinnamon bun styled bread) and a cold prove focaccia. You will also learn how to produce a crisp or a soft crust. If time allows, we might even get to make a couple of mini doughnuts and iced fingers.

### **Chocolate Masterclass for Kids 🍫✨**

**A hands-on workshop for young chocolate lovers aged 11+ (or experienced younger chefs!)**

This is the *perfect class* for aspiring chocolatiers who want to dive into the delicious world of chocolate making! In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to **temper chocolate** to achieve that glossy, professional finish, and how to create a variety of delicious fillings from scratch.

We’ll be making and experimenting with:

🍯 *Salted Caramel*\
🍫 *Rich Chocolate Ganache*\
🍬 *Honeycomb Crunch*\
🍓 *Fruit Fondants*

You’ll choose whether to create **a selection of individual filled chocolates** or **a couple of luxury filled chocolate bars**— perfect for gifting (if you can bear to part with them!).  As it’s close to Halloween, we will include a few spooky designs.

The class will end with your handmade chocolates beautifully packaged in a gift bag or box to take home.

> 🍽️ While this is definitely a *chocolate making* (not chocolate eating!) class, there will be plenty of chances for a chef’s taste along the way.

🧑‍🍳 This class includes some **advanced techniques and sugar work** involving high temperatures. It’s most suitable for children aged **11+** or **confident younger chefs aged 8+** with previous cookery experience. Please include your child’s age when booking so we can tailor the session appropriately.

👨‍👩‍👧 Parents are welcome to stay and support their child if needed. If you're unsure whether this class is the right fit, feel free to get in touch for a chat.

🥪 A light lunch is included — choose from pizza, toasties, or sandwiches — and yes, *maybe a couple of chocolates* (for quality control purposes, of course!).

In this full-day cookery class, young chefs will roll up their sleeves and get stuck into a delicious line-up of dishes inspired by the best chicken takeaways — with a homemade twist.

🥯 **Morning Bake:** We’ll start the day by shaping our own burger buns and baking mini knot rolls for a tasty mid-morning snack.

Getting to grips with the basics or improving your culinary skills, our Adult Cookery Club will introduce you to different dishes and improve your confidence in the kitchen. you will not only leave with plenty of hints and tips, but also some great food to enjoy at home. Book individual sessions, or make the most of our 'discount block', when booking over 5 sessions.

Attended my 1st class at Saddleworth Cookery School on Monday 18th October. From walking onto the premises, I was made to feel welcome immediately. Wonderfully friendly staff, who have a method of teaching that is equally informative and relaxed. We made Paella and other side dishes which I had not previously attempted. A small group of people started the evening as strangers, but by the end of the session, we were talking and laughing like old friends. I will be booking again for the next session. We were bought this as an Xmas gift and came expecting it to be a demonstration. Unfortunately it was just ingredients that were popped on a desk with a hard to follow recipe. There was a big overhead camera but they didn’t use it. A lot of the food was already made for example the rice and chicken. When we walked in there was someone who showed us to the “coffee and tea section” to which we could help ourselves but then that was about it, we found our own table to work at, figured out what baskets were for which recipe and had to find our own feet as to what to do. 

We got to take home some nice food though ☺️

Given that only 3 people had booked the evening where pies were the chief theme, and only 2 had turned up, I was extremely grateful that the class went ahead as it obviously took time in preparation and planning as well as staff.
The class was really well taught and I learnt some helpful tips.
It was tricky to balance the two of us - I had done rather more cooking and had some of the techniques already, whereas the other participant was learning rather more.  this meant that I felt we went very slowly for our first dish and it left us short of time towards the end to complete something else which might have taught me more new skills
Over all I really enjoyed the evening and Pam teaches with great enthusiasm!

Getting to grips with the basics or improving your culinary skills, our Adult Cookery Club will introduce you to different dishes and improve your confidence 

These fun, informative sessions for those educated at home are suitable for children of all abilities from 9 to 16years. We focus on the child, with an emphasis on working in a relaxed environment, building cookery skills and encouraging conversations about food and healthy eating.  Classes run every other week.  Book a 'one off' session or join us for a block of 6 sessions, for a full course to develop and hone those essential cooking skills. 
Older children, and those who have already completed 2 terms of cooking with us have the opportunity to complete a BTEC Level 2 qualification.  Those completing the full course will have 2 full assessment days to complete the required controlled assessments.  
It is expected that those following the BTEC course complete some planning and evaluation work.  We will work with students to find the best way for them to record and use this.
